Katherine Ann ADELHARDT HAMPEL was born October 3, 1895 in Lincoln County, Missouri, the daughter of Frank and Katherine DRESSEL ADELHARDT. She passed from life to life at her home April 11, 1978 at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 8 days.

On August 28, 1912, she was united in marriage to William Herman HAMPEL. They became the parents of two sons and one daughter.

Preceding Mrs. HAMPEL in death were her parents; her husband, William; one son who died in infancy; one brother, George ADELHARDT; and two sisters, Mrs. Ellen MUNZEL and Mrs. Magdeline ROTH.

She is survived by her son, Frank and his wife, Grace of Troy; her daughter, Birdie and her husband, Melvin BICKEL of Troy; three grandchildren, Jerry BICKEL and his wife, Denise of Troy, Mike HAMPEL and his wife, Debbie of Warrenton and Debbie HAMPEL of Quincy, Illinois; one great-granddaughter, Katherine BICKEL, was named after her great-grandmother; one sister, Mrs. Louise MANNZ of Troy, Illinois; one brother-in-law, Walter ROTH of Troy; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.

Mrs. HAMPEL was confirmed on April 4, 1909 and followed the teachings of her church throughout her life.

She enjoyed working in her home and garden. A favorite past time was quilting and she had made several quilts for her grandchildren.

Services were held for Mrs. HAMPEL at 2:00 p.m. Thursday from the Kemper-Marsh Funeral Home with Dr. Harley A. Krieger in charge. Mrs. D.L. Goins was the organist.

Interment was in the Friedens cemetery. Casket bearers were Henry MANNZ, Bill FULTON, Clifton ADELHARDT, Mike HAMPEL, J.E. BOCKHORST and Steve WOOLFOLK.
