OBITUARY

Mrs. Edna PAYNE HAMLETT

The subject of this notice was a daughter of John MULHERIN, a colonel in the Mexican War, and was born near Kissinger, Pike County, Mo., December 23, 1847. She died at her home in this city, Nov. 10, 1900, at 6 : 30 p.m. from typhoid fever. At the age of 14 she joined the Christian Church and ever lived a life consistent with her profession. She was married at her home, Nov. 13, 1866, to Mr. Thos. J. HAMLETT. To their union six children were born, five daughters and one son, all of whom are living. In 1877 the family moved to the northern part of Lincoln County and to Troy in 1884. For several years they have conducted the Troy hotel and Mrs. HAMLETT kindly acts as hostess will long be remembered by those who have enjoyed her hospitable entertainment. She was ever a faithful companion, a tender, loving mother and a kind-hearted neighbor. Her many friends, as well as her bereaved family cherish her memory as they esteemed her many virtues. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church Monday afternoon a 1:30 o'clok, by Elder G. F. Assiter, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Troy cemetery, to await the call of the Master whom she so devotedly loved. We extend our sincere sympathy to the bereaved family.
