OBITUARY - Margaret Garrett

On Jan. 27, at 11 p.m. death entered the door of Mr. John GARRETT and bore away the spirit of his dear mother. Her health had been very good until the past two years. She went to bed Friday morning and continued to grow worse until late Friday evening a doctor was called, but his services were of no avail as Our Heavenly Father had already made this the time for her departure from this earthly life.

She was born in Virginia, Oct. 28, 1833, and in her childhood days her father moved to Lincoln county, which she had ever since made her home.  In 1855 she was married to Erastus GARRETT and to this union were born eight children, six of whom survive her; John GARRETT, of near Jonesburg: Albert GARRETT of Jonesburg; Mrs. Laura CREECH of Linn’s Mill; H. G. GARRETT of Jonesburg; Jim GARRETT of Jonesburg and Mrs. Susie BURGESS of near Jonesburg.  Mrs. GARRETT joined the Hawk Point Christian Church in 1880 and she has ever lived faithful and true to her confession.

A dear mother has gone but she is not forgotten. She is only basking in the sunshine of the Savior.

Her remains were laid to rest of the side of her husband, who had preceded her to his resting place some twenty years before, in the Harvey cemetery.  -- A Friend
