OBITUARY OF FRANCES E. RIED FINLEY (1840-1909)
Uncited original clippings from the family archives of Frances Mitchell Houston, Troy, MO
Transcribed and Submitted by Pauline Houston Steeves

Mrs. William Finley was born March 13, 1840 and died Feb. 1, 1909. She was one of a family of seven children of which Capt. T. R. Reid of Elsberry is the only surviving member. She was born on the old homestead near Auburn and the whole of her life was spent in that immediate neighborhood. In 1866 she was united in marriage to Mr, William Finley. She was a devoted member of Mt. Zion church, and general services were conducted on Tuesday, Feb. 2nd, by the pastor of that church, after which her remains were interred in the old Reid burying ground.

Those who knew her best do not doubt that she is now among the ransomed throng where there is no more pain, neither sorrow nor crying. We extend our sincere sympathy to the loved ones that are left behind, praying that God may comfort and bless them.
