Obituary for Fred Dreyzehner (1900-1986)

Fred LeRoy DREYZEHNER was born in St. Louis, Mo., July 22, 1900, the son of William Edward and Mary BAXTER DREYZEHNER. He very suddenly passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 1986 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He had lived a very productive 86 years, 8 months and 13 days.

On December 24, 1922, he was united in marriage to Miss Dixie HILL. They became the parents of three daughters.

Preceding Mr. DREYZEHNER in death were his parents and three brothers, Otto, John and Elmo DREYZEHNER.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie, with whom he shared nearly 64 years of happy married life; his daughters, Arline DREYZEHNER of Troy, Peggy and her husband LaRue FRANK of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Sandy and her husband, Robin FRANK of Raytown, Mo.; three grandchildren; Wendy and her husband, Ted OSBURN of Blue Springs, Mo.,Daniel and Dusty FRANK, Raytown, his brother, Walter DREYZEHNER and his wife Hulda of Tulsa, Oklahoma, his sisters, Elsie HALL of St.Louis, Marie WILLIAMS of St. Louis and Helen BARNETT of Fresno, California, his wife’s brother, Woodrow HILL and his wife, Abby of Moscow Mills, her sister Lucy BRANDSHAW of St. Charles, Mo., Fred’s brothers’ wives, Myrtle DREYZEHNER and Ann DREYZEHNER, both of Mesa, Arizona, a number of cousins, nieces and nephews, and innumerable friends.

Mr. DREYZEHNER was active in church, business and community life. He was a member of the Moscow Mills Christian Church. After moving to Troy, he attended the Troy Christian Church. He was a farmer and a businessman. He and Kenneth BRINKMAN owned and operated the Farmer’s Elevator and Supply at Moscow Mills until retirement.

Mr. DREYZEHNER was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and had belonged to the Moscow Mills AF&AM Lodge No. 558 for over 56 years. He served as Master of that Lodge in 1935 and again in 1943. He also served as District Deputy of the Grand Lodge of the 29th District. He received his 50 year pin from his Lodge in 1980. He was a member of the Scottish Rite and of Moolah Temple. He and his wife were active in the Troy Chapter O.E.S., No. 405, where they served as Worthy Patron and Worthy Matron, respectively, in 1944. He served on the Moscow Mills Public R-III School Board for 24 years, and for a number of years, was on the Lincoln County R-III School Board.

He coached, played and umpired the softball and baseball teams at Moscow Mills for many years.

After retirement, Mr. and Mrs. DREYZEHNER bought a retirement home in Mesa, Arizona, where they spent the winter months each year.

Mr. DREYZEHNER enjoyed good health and was very active all his life. He and his wife had gone to Las Vegas to spend some time with their daughter and son-in-law, only a short time before his unexpected passing.

This brief life history recounts only a few of the highlights of the life of a man who served his fellow men well. Not only his devoted family but the multitude of people whose lives he touched have been greatly enriched because of the life lived by Fred L. DREYZEHNER.

Funeral services for Mr. DREYZEHNER were held at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, November 9, 1986 from the Troy Chapel, Kemper Marsh Funeral Home. Rev. Lester Zacher was the minister in charge. Interment was in the Troy City Cemetery.

Active casket bearers were Robert FRANK, Robert WERMUTH, Dulin HARRELL, Martin SENTMAN, Richard LEWIS and Herald SCHAPER.

Honorary casket bearers were Miller BRAUNGARDT, LeRoy BRAUNGARDT, C.O. ANDERSON, J.E. BOCKHORST, Billy Bob CAPPEL, Bobby THORNHILL, Charles HUMPHREY, Herman SUCHLAND, Dallas MONTGOMERY and Jack BRAUNGARDT.
