Herman Floyd DAVIS was born to Ira and Mabel GREGORY DAVIS in Story County, Iowa, on August 29, 1910. At an early age the family moved to Lincoln County, but continued in the timber and farm business. Later they moved back to Iowa.

Herman married Helen GERDEMAN November 28, 1935. They lived in Ames, Iowa until 1937 when they moved back to Troy where they continued to live the remainder of his life.

Seven children were born to this union: Carl (Patricia) of Troy, Connie, now Mrs. Eddie PEINE of Wentzville, Terry (Catherine) of Lancaster, Ohio, Dale (Connie) of Moscow Mills, Doris, now Mrs. Ronnie DANIELS of Moscow Mills, Ricky (Verna) of Troy and one son who died in infancy.

On December 26, 1954, Herman joined the United Church of Christ where he remained a faithful member until his death.

Besides his devoted wife, Helen, and his six children, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mabel DAVIS of Boone, Iowa; two brothers; four sisters; four daughters-in-law; two sons-in-law; and eight grandchildren.

Herman departed this life Monday, July 31, 1978 at the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital, Troy, Mo., after a lingering illness, attaining the age of 67 years, 11 months, and 2 days.

Funeral services for Mr. DAVIS were conducted at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, August 2, 1978 from the Friedens United Church of Christ by the minister, the Rev. Leona Abbott. Mrs. W.C. Meyer was the organist.

Burial was in the Friedens Cemetery, Moscow Mills, Mo. Casket bearers were Edwin STRASSEMEIER, Ora BUENEMAN, Ernie WEITKAMP, Frederick GERDIMAN, Clifton ADELHARDT and Irvin Dale BUENEMAN.

Arrangements were through the Kemper Marsh Funeral Home of Troy.
