Vesta Damron

ELSBERRY--Funeral services for Mrs. Georgia Vesta Damron, 81, of North Lincoln County, are to be at 2:30 P.M. Sunday at the Mill Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Marvin Braungardt in charge. Burial is to be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Damron died Thursday in a Mexico hospital.

She was born March 21, 1892, the daughter of George B. and Harriet Belle Rooks Davis. She was married to Edward Meriwether Damron, Dec. 1, 1917 and he preceded her in death in 1966.

She was a member of the Smith Chapel Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. C.P. (Ara) Ogden, Vandalia; four sons, George Davis Damron, Mexico; Norman Richard Damron, LaPlata; and Melville M. Damron, Omaha, Neb,; Garrett Eugene Damron, Bartleville, Okla; a sister Mrs. Virgil (Mable) Wilson, Elsberry; 17 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Visitation is to begin at 2 P.M. today at the Miller Funeral Home.


Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Vesta Damron

Funeral services for Georgia Vesta Damron of rural Eolia, were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at the Mill Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Marvin Braungardt in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Dameron died Oct. 11, at 6:45, in the Audrain County Medical Center, Mexico.

She was born March 21, 1892, the daughter of the late George B. and Marriett Belle Rooks Davis. She was married Dec. 1, 1917, to Edward Merriwether Damron, who preceded her in death in 1966. She was a member of the Smith Chapel Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. C. P. (Ara) Ogden, Vandalia; four sons, Garrett Eugene Davis, Bartleville, Okla., Melviille M. Davis, Omaha, Nebr., Norman Richard Damron, LaPlata and George Davis Damron of Mexico; one sister, Mrs. Virgil (Mabel) Wilson, Elsberry; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Casket bearers were the grandson. Mrs. Perry Stonebraker was pianist for the service.


Contributor’s note: Vesta Davis died on October 11, 1973, the year is not stated in either obituary. Also there are typos in the obituary. Her mother’s name was Harriet and her husband’s middle name was Meriwether.
