Minnie Damron

ELSBERRY—Services for Minnie Lee Damron, 89, Troy, formerly of Elsberry, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Elsberry United Methodist Church. Rev. Peggy Goers is in charge. Burial will be in the Oakridge Cemetery.

Mrs. Damron died at 7:16 a.m. June 28 in the Troy Medical Lodge. She was born Dec. 29, 1895 in Missouri to Cornelius Neil and Donna Potts Lawson. She was married March 22, 1917 in Elsberry to Noah Robert Damron. He died Jan. 2, 1969.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Alma Richards and Mrs. Margaret Evelyn Briscoe, both of Elsberry, Mrs. Laura Emerick and Mrs. Velma Jean Rogers, both of O’Fallon, and Mrs. Dona Mae Thurman, Troy; one son, Norman (Bud) Damron, Troy; one grandson who was raised in the home, Ray Damron, Texhoma, Okla.; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Joslyn, Elsberry; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Smith Chapel United Methodist church and was a retired telephone operator.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at the Carter-Ricks Funeral Home at Elsberry.

Memorials may be made to the Smith Chapel Church or to the Troy Medical Lodge.


Contributor’s Notes: Her husband’s obituary has surname spelled as Dameron. A handwritten date of 6/28/85 is handwritten on the obituary, which is her death date. The surname is spelled DAMRON on Noah Robert and Minnie’s tombstone.
