Obituary of Otis N. Dameron

Otis Noah, oldest son of the late James D. and Ida Ellen Dameron was born July 2, 1887 near Whiteside and departed this life at his only daughter's home November 21, 1949, near Frankford, Mo., being at the time of his death, 62 years, 3 months, and 29 days old. He was united in marriage to Ruby Austin on October 24, 1907. To this union was born three children, Frances, now Mrs. Floyd Stewart, James and Delmar, all of whom lived near his home.

He professed faith in our Lord at an early age under the ministry of Bro. Coppage and was a member of the Smith Chapel Methodist church near Elsberry. He remained true to his Lord until death, attending church regularly in his home community.

Besides his devoted wife and three children, he leaves seven small grandchildren, one son-in-law, two daughters-in-law which were devoted to him. There are also one brother, Owen Dameron of Olney, Mo., six sisters: Bertha, now Mrs. Joe Rogers of Elsberry, Mrs. Irene Rose and Myrtle, now Mrs. Ed Graves, both of near Whiteside; Ethel, now Mrs. Allie Riffle and Pauline, now Mrs. Everett Barnes, both of near New Hope, Dorothy, now Mrs. Buford Holley of Elsberry. There are also two brothers who died as infants.

The mother of Otis passed on to her eternal home on Jan. 6, 1941, and the father on October 28, 1944. There are also seven brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law deceased, Chauncey E. Rose, besides a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as many friends and

other near relatives who mourn his passing. He also leaves an only aunt, Mrs. Jennie Wagner of Elsberry.

Otis had been in declining health a number of years, but he recently had been blessed with better health and his death came as a great shock to his family and friends. In a recent letter to his sister, Myrtle, and to a very good friend, Rev. Ralph Golliker of Warsaw, Ill., he had told them he knew his stay on earth was short and expressed his feelings that he was ready and willing to go whenever the Lord saw fit to call him. He left behind to all his family a message to remember--our loss is his gain in heaven.

He made friends by his acquaintance and to know him was to love him. He was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather.

His funeral was conducted by Rev. Ralph Golliker of Warsaw, Ill., whom he had known for the past 16 years, assisted by Bro. Jennings in the McCune Baptist Church near Bowling Green.

Six of his nephews were casket bearers and six of his nieces were flower girls.
