Dawson Dameron 

Funeral services for George Dawson “Daw” Dameron of Elsberry were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2004 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.  The Rev. Connie Atchley, pastor of the First Christian Church, Elsberry, and Preston Blackwell officiated with burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery, near Elsberry.   Serving as pallbearers were Pat Mesker, Marvin Creech, Dennis Skelton, Mike Dameron, Bob Davis, Charles Waggoner, Bob Dameron and Barney Morris.  Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Bueneman, Jim Howard, Todd Boedeker, Brad Boedeker, Chris Dameron, Dawson Dameron, Vic Burkemper, Jim Jeans and Robert Watts.  American Legion Post #226, Elsberry, provided the honor guard at the cemetery. 

Mr. Dameron, 77, died Wednesday evening, May 5, 2004 at Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy, Mo.  Born September 23, 1926 in Middletown, Mo., he was the son of the late Owen and Vecie Wells Dameron.  He was united in marriage on December 23, 1950 in Elsberry to Louise Harding.  He served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II   from December 7, 1944  until November 24, 1946.  He was the owner of Dameron Quarry before retiring in 1990 and continued Dameron Flea Market until his death.  He was a 57 year member of the American Legion Post #226 in Elsberry. 

Besides his parents, Owen and Vecie Dameron, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bob Dameron; and one granddaughter, Jan Dameron. 

Survivors include his beloved wife of 53 years, Louise Dameron of Elsberry, three sons, Keith Dameron and his wife, Bonnie, Gilbert Dameron and his wife, Robin and Owen Dameron, all of Elsberry; two daughters, Denise Boaz and her husband, Rick, and Thelma Boedeker and her husband John, all of Elsberry; and seven grandchildren, Emily Dameron, Wendi Jo Dameron, Christopher Dameron, Todd Boedecker, Brad Boedeker, Dawson Dameron, and Alyssa Van Hoozier Dameron.  He also leaves one brother, Norman Dameron of Silex, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Mae Dameron of Troy, Mo,; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2004 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home is Elsberry. 

Memorials may be made to the Robin Dameron Rehabilitation Fund in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, Mo. 63343.
