Obituary for Franklin Benjamin Crouch (1876-1923)
Uncited clippings from the "Mattie Davis Martin Collection" of Doris Martin Jablonski, 1998.

Frank B. CROUCH was born October 13, 1876. He died Febuary 5, 1923. The funeral service was held in the Troy Methodist church and he was buried in the City Cemetery at Troy February 7, 1923.

On November 23, 1905 Mr. CROUCH was married to Miss Bertha A. McCAIN. Their two sons, Leroy F. B. and Clelland McCain and their mother, survive their father and husband and are deeply grieved because of their loss.

His aged father and mother, Joe and Malinda CROUCH with his four brothers, James H., True A., Albert M., and Harrison, with their sister, Mrs. Pearl GILES along with many other relatives and a host of friends and neighbors, have our sympathy in their grief. They are our friends and we are sorry for them and with them.

Mr. CROUCH was not an old man. He was only a little over 46 years of age. He was well know, however, and he was loved and respected by all who knew him. By careful patient toil and good judgement he had gained a place of esteem among his farmer friends, just west of Troy and he had made life better and happier in his community. Just recently he moved his family into the new home they had just completed. In many ways it would seem that Mr. CROUCH was just ready to begin to live when God in His Wisdom took him from us.

He was an honored member of the Masonic and Odd Fellow Orders. His brothers in these orders honored him with their presence and their service at his death. He was converted under Rev. S. H. MILAM and joined the Slaven's Chapel class of the Methodist church. After the Slavens's chapel class was discontinued, Mr. CROUCH moved his membership to the Troy class, of which he was a member when he died, At the Fourth Quarterly conference of the Troy class held in June of 1921, Mr. CROUCH was made a member of the Board of Stewards and he held this position of honor among the brethren of his church until his death. We will miss him in our community in our church and in our homes. He was a good man.
