SERVICES HELD FOR J. C. COOSE

Services for J. C. COOSE, 70, of Chesterfield, Mo., formerly of Silex, were held Aug. 20, at the J.O. Mudd Funeral Home in Silex. The Rev. Jim Williams, Presbyterian pastor, was the minister. Masonic memorial services were conducted at the funeral home by Silex AF & AM Lodge No. 75. The oration was given by Dennis Wommack, DDGL, a member of the New Hope Lodge No. 191 from Elsberry.

Warren Wommack of the Silex lodge read the history of Mr. COOSE as a Masonic member. Robert Terry, past DDGM, of St. Louis, a member of Bonhomme Lodge No. 45 of St. Louis, also served for the memorial service. Fred Street, Sr. of the Silex lodge served as chaplain during the memorial services. Mr. COOSE would have received his 50-year membership pin in the Silex lodge in May 1984.

Mrs. Fred Krammer was organist for the service. Pallbearers were Scott McCormack, Steve Colbert, Bill Ferguson, Roy Paulack, Marty Rigfon and Ed Burton. Burial was in the Auburn Cemetery in Lincoln County.

J. C., son of Mrs. Hattie Gertrude (WEEKS) COOSE of Silex and the late Charles H. COOSE, was born at Silex Sept. 6, 1912. He was killed in a farm tractor accident August 17, 1983 at Chesterfield.

On March 29, 1937 he was united in marriage to Miss Ruby STEPHENS. The ceremony was performed in bowling Green.

Mr. COOSE was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Silex and a member of AF & AM Lodge No. 75 in Silex. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He had been employed by Laclede Gas Co. in St. Louis.

He is survived by his wife, his mother and a sister, Mrs. Steve (Thelma Lee ) WOODS of Silex.
