Death of John D. CARTER

John Dale CARTER died in St. Louis, Monday evening, January 13, 1908, where he had gone a few weeks before surgical treatment. His remains were brought to Troy Tuesday evening and the funeral services were held at his late home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, being conducted by Rev. B. D. KENNEDY.  The body was taken in charge by Troy I.O.O.F. Lodge and interred with the rites of that order at the city cemetery.
Mr. CARTER was born in Virginia, but had been a resident of Troy since 1874.............. He was married in 1883 to Mrs. Lou EAST and to their union was born one son, Ernest E., who with his widow are left to mourn his loss.
His health had been poor for several years prior to his death and medical and surgical skill seemed to be unable to afford him relief...........
He always took an active interest in public affairs and was well posted on the political questions of the day. He will long be remembered by those who kew him. May he rest in peace.
