Mrs. Susie J. CAPPS wife of William A. CAPPS died at the home of her mother-in-law, Mrs. Marinda CAPPS, in this city at 1:45 p.m. July 3, 1899, after an illness of about nine months of that dreaded disease, consumption. She was born in Tennessee, Feburary 28, 1870, and while a child, was taken by her parents to Birmingham, Ala., where she continued to reside until the 27th day of January, 1888, when she was united in marriage to her now bereaved husband. About a year after their marriage, they moved to this city, where they have ever since continued to reside.

Her maiden name was HENLEY and her parents preceeded her in to their grave many years. She leaves surviving her, the bereaved husband, one half-brother (Benjamin BERGER) and a half-sister, (Mrs. Rosa BROWN), both of Alabama, and the devoted mother-in-law and her family and many loving friends to cherish her many noble virtues. Sister CAPPS was converted to Christianity in this city under the preaching of Brother Northcutt in 1893, became a member of the Christian Church, and ever since has lived a devoted, exemplary life, greatly beloved by all who knew her, and died in full triumph of faith.

She passed away so gently and sweetly that the watchers did not know that her pure spirit had taken flight. Funeral services were held at the residence of her mother-in-law, who had so kindly and lovingly nursed her through her long illness. July 4, at 2:30 p.m. conducted by the writer, assisted by Bretherens King and Rutledge, and though the weather was stormy, a large assenbly of sorrowing friends had gathered to pay the last act of loving sympathy and devotion. After the services her remains were followed through the [Missing]---- the silent city, where they---- ----tly laid to rest to await the------- William Frazier .. July 5, 1899.
