Obituary for Frederick William Cappel (1899-1982)

Frederick William CAPPEL was born near Moscow Mills, Mo. on June 6, 1899, to Antone and Anna OSBURN CAPPEL. He departed this life on July 2, 1982 at the age of 83 years and 28 days.

On March 24, 1920, he was united in marriage to Helena Caroline WEITKAMP. They enjoyed 62 years together. To this union was born two sons: James Frederick and Paul William.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: John, Earl, Clarence and Roy.

He is survived by his wife, Leona of Troy; two sons: James and his wife, Pearl of St. Louis and Paul and his wife, Melba of Troy; three sisters: Lena HARRELL and her husband, Jess of Moscow Mills, Edith HARRELL and her husband , Dean of Troy, and Lucille HILL and her husband, Lewis of Hawk Point; three sisters-in-law: Maxine of St. Louis, Willie and Juanita both of Troy; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Mr. CAPPEL was a farmer and followed this profession on his farm near Moscow Mills until his retirement in 1962.

He had been baptized in the Catholic faith at an early age, but later in years attended Friedens United Church of Christ.

Mr. CAPPEL had a wonderful sense of humor. He met everyone with a smile and was always pleasant. He and his family enjoyed a close relationship and he got great joy from his grandchildren. He was a hard working man and a good neighbor. He leaves very happy memories with all who knew and loved him.

The Rev. Parry Brown, close friend of Mr. CAPPEL, conducted funeral services for him at 2o’clock Monday, July 5. 1982 from Friedens United Church of Christ, Moscow Mills, assisted by the church pastor, the Rev. Al Minor. Mrs. Wencker Meyer was the organist.

Interment was in Friedens Cemetery, Moscow Mills. Casket bearers were Ben DREISEWERD, Ken EISENBATH, Harry VOGEL, Harold (Buddy) BERGESCH, Harold HILL, Brian CHRISMEYER and Miller BRAUNGARDT.

Visitation was at the Kemper Marsh Funeral Home in Troy.
