Obituary for Elihu William Bueneman (1906-1981)

Elihu William BUENEMAN of Wright City was born September 2, 1906 on the family farm south of Troy, Missouri, the son of Tom and Maggie GERDEMAN BUENEMAN. He was the oldest of eight children. He passed away at his home in Wright City on April 14, 1981.

On June 26, 1929, he was united in marriage to Mary Edna BERNDT in Waterloo, Illinois. To this union was born three children. They made their home in Lincoln County for the first years of their marriage. On April 1, 1932 they moved to the Wright City area, where they have made their home since.

He was in business for over fifty years. Besides his family and business, where the greatest part of his interest and life, he was on the Wright City school board for many years. He was also a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Wright City. He took great pride in the fact that he and Mary celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1979, when they renewed their marital vows.

He is survived by his wife Mary of the home; three children: Melna Jean ENGELAGE and husband Norman of Defiance, Mo., E.W. BUENEMAN Jr. and wife Wanda of Wright City and Thomas James BUENEMAN and wife Janet of Wright City; four brothers and three sisters: Ira BUENEMAN, Julius BUENEMAN, Marvin BUENEMAN, all of Troy, Walter BUENEMAN of Moscow Mills, Mrs. Alva DOWELL of Bowling Green, D’Arline BUENEMAN and Mrs. Mabel SCHOENECK, both of Brandon, Mississippi, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Bueneman were conducted Friday, April 17 at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Wright City, with the Rev. Ken GREEN officiating, Interment was in the Wright City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Nieburg-Brown Funeral Home in Wright City.
