Obituary for Willard T. Bruning  (1909-2002)

            Funeral services for Willard T. BRUNING of Troy, Mo., were held Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at St. Stephen United Methodist Church in Troy.  The Rev. David Stewart officiated.  Mrs. Faye Pavelka was the organist.  Mrs. Frieda Owen was the soloist and accompanied herself on the guitar.  Burial followed in the Troy City Cemetery.

            Pallbearers were all grandsons and great-grandsons: Alex BRUNING, Shawn BRUNING, Henry CARAWAY, Steven ECHOLS, Scott EDWARDS, Darren MICKE and Steven MICKE.

            Mr. BRUNING, 93, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002 at St. Joseph Hospital West at Lake St. Louis.

            Born Oct. 28, 1909, in Norden, Okla., he was the son of John H. and Lottie PAIGE BRUNING.  He was married to Clara METCALF Feb. 9, 1933, in Montgomery City.

            Mr. BRUNING had worked as a tubing bender for McDonnell-Douglas Corp., in St. Louis for over 20 years.  He had been a farmer his whole life.  During the war he also worked at the TNT  Plant and had been a trucker.  He had been a member of the St. Stephen United Methodist Church, Troy.

            He is survived by five sons, David BRUNING and wife, Virginia, of Bellflower, Wayne BRUNING and wife, Bonnie, of Troy, Neil BRUNING and wife, Wilma, of Troy, Glen BRUNING of Wright City and Michael BRUNING and wife, Jewel, of Troy; six daughters, Velma CLARK of Troy, Shirley McCARTY and husband, Jim, of Westminster, Calif., Loretta MICKE and husband, Norbert, of Foristell, Audrey MOLITOR and husband, Glennon, of Morgantown, Ind., Laverne TANG and husband, Paul, of Broomfield, Colo., and Sue EDWARDS and husband, Joe, of Troy; 41 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by three brothers, Keith BRUNING and wife, Marjorie, of Nebraska, James BRUNING and wife, Florence of Colorado and Kenneth BRUNING and wife, Idele, of Wright City; three sisters, Charlotte and husband, Paul CORZINE, St. Charles, Dorothy TORGLER of Concordia, Kan., and Ruth COOK of St. Charles.

            He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara BRUNING on Nov. 13, 2001; one son, Russell BRUNING; one daughter, Lois Jean BRUNING; one great-granddaughter, Brandy WANICK and two brothers, Roger and Raymond BRUNING.

            Visitation was held at the McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home, Troy.
