Mrs. Carrie BROYLES passed away Sunday, June 16, 1968, at the Wells Nursing Home in Moscow Mills, Missouri, where she had made her home for the past four years. She had been ill for several months preceding her death. She had reached the age of 93 years and 4 days.

She was the daughter of Orange and Mary MCDONALD - BROYLES, and was born June 12, 1875, at the family home near Winfield, Missouri, where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to Owen SITTON in 1901. One son, Golden SITTON, was born to them. Her husband passed away in 1934, and that same year her son died at the age of 31 years. In 1936, she was married to Samuel Hennan (Dick) BROYLES, who preceded her in death, in 1942.

Most of her life was spent in the Winfield Community, but she had lived in East St. Louis, Illinois. For a number of years before she came to Moscow Mills, to make her home with her niece, Mrs. Mollie WELLS. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Flora (Mrs. Lewis SITTON) and Katie, who died early in life, and her four brothers, Columbus, Will Almon and Orange. She was converted to the Christian faith and had moved her membership with her to several communities where she had lived through the years. She was a member of the Troy Baptist Church at the time of her death.

Having out lived all of her family, she is survived only by her three nephews, Raymond and Claud BROYLES of Winfield, and Huston BROYLES of Beloit, Wisconsin; five nieces; Floy KRIEG, Troy, Missouri; Mollie WELLS, Moscow Mills, Missouri, Carrie SEABOUGH, of Fredericktown, Missouri, Lucy CANNON, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Irene HUSTON, of Winfield, Missouri, and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. George WELLS of Troy, Missouri.

"Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth. Yea, saith the Spirit that they may rest from their labors, and their works do follow them."

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 18, 1968, from the Rick's Funeral Home in Winfield; Rev. J. K. East officiating. Hymns were sung by John Talbot, and Ruth Tiller at the organ. Casket Bearers were: Al Sexaur, James Wells, Huston Broyles, Dale Johnson, Raymond Broyles and Henry Beckemeyer. O'Garlan Ricks was in charge of the services. Burial was in Winfield Cemetery.
