James D. BROWN

The funeral services of the above took place in the Christian Church Thursday, the 30th, conducted by Elder G. F. Assiter, Rev. Gordon assisting. The deceased was born in Bourbon Co. Ky., Oct. 7, 1807, attaining the ripe old age of 94 years . Up till the time of his death, which occured on Tuesday from old age, accellerated by an attack of grippe, he enjoyed remarkably good health, subject only to deafness. He came to Pike co., Mo. in 1821, where he resided in the neighborhood of Frankford till 1867, when he came to Troy. For the last 18 months he lived with his daughter, Mrs. Dr. THORTON, of Kansas City, at whose home he breathed his last. More than 40 years ago he was converted to Jesus Christ and united with the Christian Church at Frankford, Mo. being baptized by Elder Ford of holy memory. Bro. BROWN who was the sole survivor of a family of 16 children, had by his beloved wife nee Elmira B. MERITT to whom he was married on Aug. 14, 1832, nine children, four of whom survive him, namely: Mrs. THORNTON, of Kansas City, Mrs. Wm. FRAZIER, of Troy, G. B. BROWN, of Lewistown, Idaho. All who knew the departed will bear witness to his consistant and active Chrstian life. He was chosen Deacon of the church one year after his conversion, and continued, so long as increasing years would allow.............(some is missing). G. F. Assiter
