JUDGE C. Y. BROWN DIES

Judge C. Y. BROWN, associate judge of the County Court of Lincoln County, died Friday, February 14, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, St. Charles, where he had been following an operation to which he submitted earlier last week. He had been in critical health for about three years past.

Clem Young BROWN, son of Alfred Y. and Joan TAYLOR BROWN, was born February 24, 1872 at the place where he resided at the time of his death.

He died February 14, 1941, at the age of 68 years, 11 months and 21 days.

He was married to Bernettie Catherine LaRUE September 11, 1894. To this union were born four sons: Arthur Y., Edward Y., Claude L. and Hudson S. who with their mother survive him.

Judge BROWN became a member of the New Galilee Christian Church on Nov. 28, 1901, where he was a faithful member until the time of his death. He was also a member of the Moscow Mills I.O.O.F. Lodge.

He spent most of the years of his life as a farmer. During his latter years, he served his County in the official capacity mentioned above and made a good record in that service.

Judge BROWN was held in high esteem throughout Lincoln County. He will also be remembered in the community of his birth as a Christian neighbor and one of the community’s oldest and most useful citizens.

One of a family of six children, one sister, Mrs. L. H. LaRUE, now survives him.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. M. D. DUDLEY Sunday afternoon at New Galilee and burial was in the Troy City Cemetery.
