Obituary

Mrs. John RANEY, Juda Agnes BRISCOE, oldest daughter of Samuel and Rebecca BRISCOE, was born April. 7, 1850, and died December 8, 1923, aged 73 years, 8 months and 1 day. She was married to John C. RANEY December 30, 1875. Six children were bon to this union. Amanda Alice ZUMWALT of Davis; Granville, of Elsberry; Rebecca WELLS, of Bellflower; James H. and Walter of Briscoe; John Pearl, who died at the age of 10. She also had one stepdaughter, Mrs. Brock NICHOLS, of Winfield. Besides these, she leaves a devoted husband, 18 grandchildren, 3 brothers and 1 sister and many other relatives and friends to mourn her departure.

About 30 years ago she professed her faith in her Lord and united with the Baptist Church at Briscoe, but later moved her membership to Davis where she lived a consistant Chrstian until her death. She bore her suffering with patience and ever praised her Lord. Funeral services were conducted at Briscoe by Rev. J. S. Eames, assisted by Rev. J. W. Borden, after which her body was laid to rest in the cemetery there. May the Lord comfort those who mourn. --J.S.Eames
