The Troy Free Press, Troy, MO, 30 April, 1915, page 8, column 3.

John Mc. BRISCOE was born June 9, 1848, and departed this life April 10, 1915, aged 66 years, 10 months and 1 day. His wife preceded him to the grave 27 years; five children survive him, all grown and married, except the youngest son. All were at his bedside at the time of his death. He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters, all living in Oklahoma, except a sister, Mrs. Henrietta EVERETT, of Caldwell county, Mo.
He was a son of John Mc. and Joyce BRISCOE and was born and raised on a farm near Auburn. Lived on a farm continuously in that vicinity until 1890, when he moved to Oklahoma. He secured a farm near Norman and was a successful farmer, leaving behind a considerable amount of property. He was a good neighbor and a highly respected citizen. His body was brought to Briscoe and laid away in the old family burying ground at that place, to await the great and final judgment. Peace to his ashes.
