Obituary for Flora Braungardt (1889-1977)

Flora Marie BRAUNGARDT was born near Wright City, Missouri, December 26, 1889, the daughter of John and Rosa GERKEN SCHLOEMAN. She passed away December 2, 1977 at Lincoln County Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient only a few hours, having reached the age of 87 years, 11 months and 6 days.

On November 26, 1916 she was married to Albert F. BRAUNGARDT. Four children were born to this union, Mr. BRAUNGARDT preceded her in death March 19, 1952.

Mrs. BRAUNGARDT is survived by four children: Darline and her husband Edwin HIMMEL; Melvin and his wife Annette; Gladys and her husband Les EVERSMEYER; Marvin and his wife, Jane, all of Lincoln County. She has ten grandchildren who survive; Sharon HIMMEL SCHIEFFER and her husband David, Dale and Steven HIMMEL; Peggy and Paula BRAUNGARDT; David, Elaine, and Cheryl EVERSMEYER; Dan and Diana BRAUNGARDT; two step-grandchildren: Debbie FOLLIS DAVIS and her husband Larry; Diana FOLLIS ROBERTS and her husband Danny. Other survivors include two sisters, Golda Van MIDDLESWORTH of Tunica, Mississippi and Myrtle REIHL of Moscow Mills, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Mayme BRAUNGARDT, her parents, five brothers, Japha, Alpha, Wesley, Henry and Philip and three sisters, Edna, Anna and Pearlie.

When she was a young girl she professed faith in Christ and united with the church. For the past twenty years she had been a member of the Moscow Mills United Methodist Church.

She was a devoted wife and loving mother who lived a full, quiet and peaceful life and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
