Obituary for Floy Lorene Bockhorst (1907-1982)

Floy Lorene BOCKHORST was born at Moscow Mills, Mo., April 30, 1907, the daughter of John and Nola Jane BROWN WATSON. She passed away in the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital, Troy, Mo., Saturday morning, October 23, 1982. She had attained the age of 75 years 6 months and 3 days.

On April 30, 1923, she was united in marriage to Walter BOCKHORST. Two children, a daughter and a son, were born to this union.

Mr. and Mrs. BOCKHORST lost their son, Walter, Jr., when he was 12 years of age. Mr. BOCKHORST passed away in December of 1956. Her brother, Carthel WATSON, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy and her husband John BARBEE of Troy; one granddaughter, Suzi BARBEE of Arlington, Texas; two sisters; Edna and her husband, Sturgeon of Bridgeton, Mo., and Letha and her husband, Joe BROSS, of Wentzville, Mo.; her brother Carthel’s wife Edna of Foristell, Mo., several nieces and nephews, other relatives and innumerable friends.

Mr. and Mrs. BOCKHORST lived on a farm east of Troy for many years. They later moved to Troy. Mrs. BOCKHORST became an employee of the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital, where she worked in the dietary department from soon after the hospital opened until her retirement.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Troy, and a member of the Golden Circle Sunday School Class of the church. She was formerly a member of the Sugar Grove Good Will Extension Club.

Mrs. BOCKHORST lived a true Christian life. She had the love and respect of all who knew her. She and her family were very close and enjoyed many happy times together. Mrs. BOCKHORST lived for a while in the Pink Home of Angels, and they, too, became very close to her, and are included in the many relatives and friends who have lost a loved one and friend who can never be replaced in their hearts.

Mrs. BOCKHORST’S pastor, the Rev. Bill Combs of the First Baptist Church of Troy, conducted funeral services for Mrs. BOCKHORST at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon, from the Kemper Marsh Funeral Home in Troy. Mrs. Mike Woods was the vocalist.

Interment was in the Troy City Cemetery. Casket bearers were Bill BOCKHORST, Sam BOCKHORST, George HERPS, John BROSS and Tom ZOELLNER.
