Service Held For Hiram BIRKHEAD

Services for Hiram Carlyle BIRKHEAD were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ricks Funeral Home in winfield. His nehew, the Rev. John Birkhead of New London officiated with burial in the New Salem Cemetery, Winfield.

Mr. BIRKHEAD, 86, died May 13, 1980 at his home in Overland. Born June 6, 1893, he was the son of Hiram Link and Mattie TURNBULL BIRKHEAD. In 1914 he married Emma YOUNG in Winfield, who survives. Mr. BIRKHEAD was street-car operator for many years in St. Louis before his retirement in 1958. He was a member of Modern Woodman of America and Amalgamated Transit Union, local 788, St. Louis.

Survivors besides his wife include two sons, Wayne H. BIRKHEAD, Overland and William V. BIRKHEAD of Florrisant; one sister, Mrs. Edna BIRKHEAD MONTGOMERY of Troy; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
