Birdie BICKEL, 82, of Troy, died Saturday (Jan. 6, 2001) at her residence. Mrs. BICKEL was born Oct. 18, 1918, in Troy to William and Katherine ADELHARDT HAMPEL. She was married to Melvin BICKEL on May 30, 1937. He preceded her in death Dec. 1, 1994.

Mrs. BICKEL owned and operated Bickels Market in Florissant with her husband for 35 years. She was a member of Evangeline Club and the Zion United Church of Christ in Troy. She was an avid auto racing fan and loved baseball and football.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today at Kemper-Marsh Funeral Home, 351 Monroe Street, Troy. Burial will be at Friedens-Anderson Hill Cemetery in Moscow Mills.

Among the survivors are a son, Jerry BICKEL of Troy; two grandchildren, Matt BICKEL of Waco, TX and Katie BICKEL of Florissant; a brother, Frank HAMPEL of Moscow Mills.

Memorial contributions can be made to Zion United Church of Christ in care of Kemper-Marsh Funeral Home, 351 Monroe Street, Troy, Mo. 63379.
