Obituary for Louise Bergfeld (1888-1985)

Louise Augusta Johanna BERGFELD of Moscow Mills, Missouri, was called to her heavenly home on November 28, 1985, in her 97th year. She was born to Henry Ludwig and Emma KAISER LUDWIG on February 21, 1888, near Moscow Mills, and was baptized on March 21, 1888. She was confirmed by the Rev. August Bender on April 8, 1901, in the Evangelical Church of Moscow Mills, (now Friedens United Church of Christ), where she was a faithful attendant throughout her lifetime.

She was married to Henry Conrad John BERGFELD on September 6, 1906, by the Rev. C. F. Pfieffer, and they became parents of three children: Edwin George BERGFELD and twins, Esther Emma and Fred Henry BERGFELD. Her husband passed away in 1935 and her son, Edwin passed away in 1977. She is also predeceased by her sisters, Laura WIEMAN and Lena HOSS, and brother, Henry Ludwig. Also, half sister Edith EDINGER and half-brothers, Ed, Fritz, and Amiel EDINGER.

Louise BERGFELD loved her home in Moscow Mills, where she spent over 70 years of her life. She was resourceful in maintaining a family life there after the death of her husband, and was the loving hub of activities with her children and grandchildren. Her helping hands and loving heart have touched many lives.

She is survived by her children, Fred BERFELD and wife, Lucille, of Troy; Esther HORNER and her husband, Clay HORNER of Hugoton, Kansas; her daughter-in-law, Irene BERGFELD, of Troy, and the following grandchildren: Ruby Jane and her husband, Don METTE, Rock Bridge Baths, Va.; Linda Lou and her husband, Charles BROYLES, St. Charles, Mo.; Carl Gene BERGFELD, Kenton, Tn.; Gary Wayne BERGFELD and wife, Debbie, Paris, Mo.; Karen Louise and her husband Lyle ENGLISH, Wichita, Ks.; Alan Fred BERGFELD and his wife, Nancy, of Wichita, Ks.; and Dr. Carol Ann MILLS and her husband, Dr. Judson MILLS, of Lanham, Md. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many friends.

She was a wonderful mother and wife, and a good neighbor.

The past few years, Mrs. BERGFELD had been in ill health. During that time she had the best of care by her family.

Her long and productive life will long be remembered by her family and her many friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. BERGFELD were held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, November 30, 1985 from the Friedens United Church of Christ, Moscow Mills. The Rev. Bob Hicks, Pastor of Zion UCC was the minister. Mrs. Wencker Meyer was the organist, and Rev. Hicks was the soloist.

Interment was in the Friedens Cemetery, Moscow Mills. Casket bearers were Frederick GERDIMAN, Arlie HELMICH, Walter BUENEMAN, Harry VOEPEL, Ernie BUENEMAN and C.O. ANDERSON.

Visitation was at the Kemper Marsh Funeral Home in Troy.
