Edwin George BERGFELD was born in Lincoln County, Mo., between Troy and Moscow Mills, February 9, 1910. He was the son of Henry Conrad and Louisa Johannah LUDWIG BERGFELD.

He passed away in the Lincoln County Manor in Troy, Wednesday night, April 13, 1977. He was 67 years, 2 months and 4 days of age.

On June 16, 1935, he was united in marriage to Miss Della TAYLOR. They became the parents of four children. She passed away July 18, 1960. His father preceded him in death March 8, 1935.

On November 23, 1962, Mr. BERGFELD was united in marriage to Miss Irene SCHAPER. She survives as do his four children: Ruby June and her husband, Donald METTE, of Rockbridge Bath, Va., Linda and her husband, Charles BROYLES, of Wentzville, Carl Gene and his wife, Judy, of Kenton, Tenn., and Gary Wayne, of Troy; five grandchildren, his mother, Mrs. Louisa BERGFELD, of Moscow Mills; one sister, Ester and her husband, Clay HORNER, of Hugoton, Kansas, one brother, Fred BERGFELD and his wife, Lucille, of Troy, his mother-in-law, Mrs. Willie SCHAPER, of Troy; his wife’s brothers: the Rev. Melvin SCHAPER and his wife, Joy, of Briscoe, Albert SCHAPER, Jr., and his wife, Wilma, of Hawk Point, and John Wesley SCHAPER and his wife, Wilda, of Mound Valley, Kansas; his wife’s sister, Mildred and her husband, the Rev. Alfred MILLER of Carman, Oklahoma; a number of nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and many, many friends.

Funeral services for Mr. BERGFELD were held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, April 16, 1977, from the Troy Holiness Church. The pastor, the Rev. D.L. Goins was in charge of the services and he was assisted by the Rev. Melvin SCHAPER.

Vocalists were Mrs. D.L. Goins, Melvin Jefferson and Lester Schloemann. Mrs. Arthur Schemmer was the organist.

Burial was in the Troy City Cemetery. Casket bearers were Sam ELSTON, Bob HECHLER, Russell HUTT, Dennis HARRELL, James ZUMWALT and Walter WEINAND.

Arrangements were through the Kemper Marsh Funeral Home of Troy.
