Marriage Notice for Harry Penn and Forney Wells
Believed to be from the Troy Free Press.
From the collection of Mary Omahundro Hutt Walker.

[hand written 1907 ]

Misses Lily and Katherine WELLS gave a very pleasant social function last Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 at their father's home. The occasion for the gathering was the announcement of the approaching marriage of their sister, Miss Forney WELLS to Harry PENN which is to occur on the 16th of next month. Quite a number of young friends of Miss WELLS were present, delightful refreshments were served and the congratulations of the guests were cordial and sincere, in which the Free Press most heartily joins.

The Penn-Wells Wedding

Married, Wednesday evening, Oct.16, 1907, at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Jos. B. WELLS, in this city, Mr. Harry PENN and Miss Forney WELLS, Rev. B.D. Kennedy officiating. A large number of relatives and friends of the contracting parties were present to witness the happy affair. At the appointed hour, the couple stepped into the presence of the assembled guests, where the minister, in a very impressive ceremony, pronounced the words which bind them for life. After congratulations had been offered, the bride and groom drove to the later's home, where the sisters and brothers of the latter tendered them with a large assemblage of guests a most delightful reception. The esteem in which these young people are held by their friends was attested in the number ad beauty of the gifts that were showered upon them. The bride was most becomingly arrayed in pure white and looked her prettiest, while the groom wore the the usual black. Mrs. PENN was born and raised in Troy and is one of our most popular and most deserving girls. Mr. PENN has lived here nearly all his life and is a man of sterling worth. May theirs be a long and joyous life.
