Original Purchase Property Description:  NW 1/4 of the NE 1/4 - the NE 1/4 of the NW 1/4 & the W 1/2 of the NW 1/4 of Sec. 17, Twp 49, Rng 2E in the District of Lands Subject to Sale at Palmyra, Missouri, containing 170 acres.

This Deed Property Description:  NE of the NW the NW of the NE and the E 1/2 of the West half of NW qtr of Sec. 17, Twp 49, Rng. 2E containing 130 acres.


Know all men by these presents that we Richard C. DORSEY and LeeEllen DORSEY his wife of the County of Lincoln in the State of Missouri, in consideration of Six hundred Dollars to us paid by Edwin HASTINGS of the County and State aforesaid, the receipt whereof is hereby = acknowledged do sell and convey to the Said Edwin HASTINGS his heirs and assigns forever all that certain tract of land situate ___ ___ and being in the County of Lincoln and State of Missouri, being the NE of the NW the NW of the NE and the E 1/2 of the West half of NW qtr of Section Seventeen (17) township forty nine (49) range two (2) East in the District of lands subject to Sale at Palmyra containing One hundred & thirty acres, more or less ~  To Have and To Hold the said premises, with all the privileges and appurtances to the Same belonging to the Grantee his heirs and assigns = forever, and I the said Richard C. DORSEY do covenant with the said grantee his heirs and assigns that I am the lawful owner of the said premises and am rightfully signed thereof in fee simple and have good rights to sell and convey the same in manner aforesaid, and that the said premises are free of all encumbrances and that I am my ____ will warrant the Same to the Said Grantee his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons The Condition of the foregoing deed is that if the said DORSEY shall pay to the Said Edwin HASTINGS the sum of Six hundred dollars and interest within one year from the date hereof ____ to my note of ___ ___ herewith or that sum = payable to the said Edwin HASTINGS or ____ in one year, with interest then this deed shall be void. ~

In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this 7th day of April A.D. 1862.

County of Lincoln } SS  I Milner M. TUCKER, a Justice of the peace within and for the county aforesaid do certify that on this 8 day of May A.D. 1862 came before me Richard C. DORSEY and Lee Ellen his wife who are personally known to me to be the same, persons whose names are subscribed to the foregoing instrument of writing as parties thereto and acknowledged the same to be their acts and deed for the purposes therein mentioned.   She the said Lee Ellen being by me first made acquainted with the contents of Said instrument upon an examination apart from her said husband acknowledged that she executed the same and relinquished her dower in the real estate therein mentioned freely and without compulsion or undue influence of her said husband.

Given under my hand this 8 day of May 1862.

The interlining of the words "his wife" between the first & second lines ___ go between "9 & 10 lines & the Erasure of two words in the 5th line & one in the 15th line was done before the acknowledgement was taken.
