Commencement Program of the High School Conservatory of Music (date unknown)
No. 254 - Uncited clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection" of Beth Rengers Talken, 1998.

The commencement program of the Recital and Graduating Concert of the High School Conservatory of Music, May 13th and 14th of 34 pupils under the direction of Miss Birdie WULF, will appear in next week's issue of the FREE PRESS. The largest number of music graduates in the history of the school will receive diplomas Tuesday evening, May 14th. The list of graduates are: Misses Gertrude THURMAN, Elza HARRIS and Gladys CHEWNING of Troy and Misses Irene CARTER and Ethel LANIER of Moscow. The post-graduates are Miss Mary SYDNOR of Troy and Miss Vivian HARRIS of Moscow. The post-graduates are especially to be congratulated for having taken this higher course in music, which ranks among the finest of arts. Miss Vivian HARRIS, who also graduates in the regular high school course, is salutatorian of her class and has chosen "Music" as the topic for essay and has dedicated it to her two music teachers, Mrs. WILKINSON and Miss Birdie WULF, which proves she has held them in high esteem and which they should consider quite an honor.

Note regarding clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection":  Neva Murphy Hubbard (1886-1971) lived all of her life in Lincoln County, MO.  She collected a large file of clippings of Lincoln County residents. The majority of the clippings were without citation. Beth Rengers Talken, beneficiary of the collection, has transcribed them for inclusion in our Lincoln County Heritage Records.
