Hubbard School Closed Tuesday, March 17 (year unknown)
No. 241a - Uncited clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection" of Beth Rengers Talken, 1998.

School closed Tuesday, March 17. Although the measles was spread in the school, we had a very good attendance.

A short time before the dinner hour, the mothers of the district came with well-filled baskets and a bountiful dinner was spread. The good wives and mothers of this district know just how to get up a dinner for such an occasion.

After dinner there were a few recitations, after which the prizes were awarded. The prize in the "C" spelling class was won by little Clara SCHMIDT, and in the "B" class by little Knox BROWNING.

Knox BROWNING has attended three years in succession and has not missed a day; Dot BROWN missed only one day of this term.

Fifteen new books have been added to the library during my stay in the district, making in all 99 volumes. The library should be [sic] all means be taken to some home, being open one day out of the week, to give the pupils of the district an oppportunity [sic] to read the books.

Despite the muddy roads and cold weather, my stay with you was very enjoyable and with a sad heart I bade each and all good-bye, carrying with me pleasant memories of the time spent with you.

--Ada NORTHCUTTE.
