Obituary for Mary E. Young (1847-1906)
No. 151 - Uncited clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection" of Beth Rengers Talken, 1998.

Mrs. Mary E. YOUNG, the wife of the late Richard YOUNG, died at the home of her son, Wm. R.YOUNG, in Troy, Mo., March 1, 1906, after a year or more of declining health. She was born in Virginia 59 years ago, came to this state in early life and made Troy her home for many years. By her life of devotion and sevice she had earned many happy declining years and to us it seems a pity that she could not have been spared longer to her many friends. Her disposition was such as to make others happy, and association with her was always pleasant and profitable. She was charitable toward all and never did the writer hear her speak aught of ill against any one. Her interest in the church and her Master's cause had grown with her years until there was a ripeness that was beautiful to behold.

She frequently remarked in her last sickness that it would be far better for her to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. So when the sunset came, there was no mourning of the bar as her life boat put out to sea and the unseen boatman guided her barque to the haven of rest. She now lives in the land of perpetual sunshine, where there are joys for evermore. Her memory will ever be as an incense whose fragrance is a delight. She leaves to mourn her departure: Wm. R. YOUNG and family, of Troy; Mrs. W. J. MCBURNEY and Mrs. Geo. MARTIN, of St. Louis; Dr. James YOUNG, of Pueblo, Colo., and a host of relatives and other friends.

--K.
