Obituary for Hunter Sydnor Meriwether (1899-1901)
No. 086 - Uncited clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection" of Beth Rengers Talken, 1998.

Died, July 19, 1901, at the home of his parents in Troy, Mo., Hunter Sydnor, only son of John F. and Kate B.
MERIWETHER, of whooping cough and congestion of the stomach and bowels, at the tender age of 20 months and 2 days.

Little Hunter, who was an unusually bright and pretty boy, was the idol of his fond parents and the pet of his little sister Mary.

He was a gift from God, sent to brighten your home and lives, and you will now feel in all the years to come: "Twas better to have loved and lost. Than never to have loved at all."

You are richer and better for having a little child in Heaven to beckon you onward and upward; you have an interest there. Trials may come to you but none can come to him upon whose lips Jesus has pressed the kiss of peace.  Like the unsurpassed Magnolia of the sunny south, he came to shed the beauty and fragrance of his sweet angelic life, and impress them on the minds and hearts of those who knew and loved him, then faded and went away.

The world and your home are better for his having lived. Heaven is richer for his going. He cannot return to you, but you, with God's help, may go to him. Lovingly, Mrs. Wm. FRAZIER, Troy, Mo., July 25, 1901. [photo caption gives birthdate as 17 Nov 1899]
