Obituary for Celia Hubbard (dates unknown)
No. 062 - Uncited clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection" of Beth Rengers Talken, 1998.

Mrs. Celia HUBBARD died of a ___lytic stroke Monday night at the home of her son-in-law, Wm. MURPHY, near the Hubbard school house, aged about 70 years. Her husband, Harrison HUBBARD, was called out of his house one night during the civil war and shot to death in his own yard. Mrs. HUBBARD had many friends who will be sorry to hear of her unexpected death. Her surviving relatives are one son and two daughters–Henry HUBBARD, Mrs. Wm. MURPHY and Mrs. Jas. H. GEAR – and possibly sisters and brothers in other states. Mrs. HUBBARD was, we believe, born in Arkansas, her mother being a sister to the late Walton PERKINS, and came to Missouri in her childhood shortly after the death of her parents. Her burial took place at the Hubbard graveyard Tuesday afternoon. Rev. R.W. HOWERTON conducting the funeral services.

Note regarding clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection":  Neva Murphy Hubbard (1886-1971) lived all of her life in Lincoln County, MO.  She collected a large file of clippings of Lincoln County residents. The majority of the clippings were without citation. Beth Rengers Talken, beneficiary of the collection, has transcribed them for inclusion in our Lincoln County Heritage Records.
