Among those from a distance who attended Mrs. James HARDING's funeral here Saturday were, Mrs. Lum SWAN, Mrs. Cyrus WILLIS and baby, Mrs. Samuel BROYLES, Mrs. Tom BROWN, Leslie and Everett MONTGOMERY, Olga RANEY and Dick HARDING of St. Louis, John BROYLES and family of Wright City, Chas. BROYLES of Foley, Jess MONTGOMERY and wife, Norman RICKS and wife and Jake BLAKELY and family of Winfield.
This neighborhood was again saddened Thursday when the news reached here telling of the sudden death of Mrs. Lizzie HARDING, which occurred at her home in St. Louis, Wednesday night, September 24. She was the wife of James HARDING and was formerly Miss Lizzie BROYLES, a daughter of Jake and Mary BROYLES, who were residents of this neighborhood and were well known by the people here. Mrs. HARDING was born and raised here and lived in this county until a few years ago when she with her family moved to St. Louis which since has been her home. Her remains were brought back here by the way of the Burlington Railroad to South Troy Saturday, September 27, and that afternoon funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church here by Rev. J.S. EAMES after which the body was buried in the Old Alexandria cemetery. She leaves a husband and six children, two brothers, Chas. BROYLES of near Foley, John BROYLES of Wright City, and five sisters, Mollie and Jennie or Portland, Ore., and Cora, Verna and Elza of St. Louis, to miss her and mourn their loss. All were present at her funeral and burial except the two siters in Oregon. She was a faithful and loving wife and mother and will be so missed in her home. She united with the Baptist church at Owen Station some time ago under the preaching of Bro. EAMES, and she has always been a faithful member. It will be remembered by the readers that only one month ago she with other relatives was called here to attend the burial of her brother, Samuel Broyles, and was in perfect health; she was only sick twelve hours before her death. It was said of her by friends at her funeral that she was such a good woman that all who knew her loved her, and ___ was proved by the im___ ____ sorrowing relative_ _____ ______ were present at ______ God comfort the . . .

Note regarding clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection": Neva Murphy Hubbard (1886-1971) lived all of her life in Lincoln County, MO. She collected a large file of clippings of Lincoln County residents. The majority of the clippings were without citation. Beth Rengers Talken, beneficiary of the collection, has transcribed them for inclusion in our Lincoln County Heritage Records.
