Mrs. Dollie FISHER, age 85, of Moscow Mills, died Friday afternoon April 17th, in the Pink Home of the Angels near Troy, Mo. Funeral services for Mrs. FISHER were conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Lester ZACHER, at 1:30 Sunday afternoon, April 19, in the Moscow Mills Methodist Church. Interment was in the Anderson Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills. Organist for the services was Mrs. Amiel WEITKAMP and the soloist was Mrs. Gary HILL. Casket bearers were Herbert HIMMEL, Marvin HIMMEL, Edwin HIMMEL, Reed POWELSON, Woodrow HILL and Gary HILL.

Mrs. FISHER was born near Moscow Mills May 21, 1884, the daughter of John F. and Mary Elizabeth Williams ABBOTT. She was first married to James Richard WELLS. Several years after his passing, she was married to J.E. FISHER of Troy, who also preceded her in death. Survivors include several nieces and nephews and one brother-in-law, William Ottis JONES.

Arrangements were through the Kemper Marsh Funeral Home of Troy.

Dollie Abbott Wells FISHER, daughter of the late John F. and Mary Elizabeth WILLIAMS ABBOTT, was born May 21st, 1884, near Moscow Mills, MO. She departed this life in the home of the Pink Angels in the Old Alexandria community of Lincoln County, Mo., on Friday afternoon, April 17, 1970, at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 26 days.

When she was 15 years of age, she moved with her parents to St. Louis. On June 24th, 1907, she and her husband moved to Moberly, Mo., where he was employed with the Wabash Railroad. He retired in 1945, and they moved to a place near Moscow Mills, Mo.

On Easter Sunday of 1945, she united with the Moscow Mills Methodist Church. Mr. WELLS died March 12th, 1948. On December 16, 1954, she was married to John Eberly FISHER, of Troy. Mr FISHER died Jan. 2, 1961.  After his passing, she lived in her own home until illness overcame her, at which time it became necessary for her to live outside her home.


She loved her church and was very faithful in her attendance, even to hiring a taxi to transport her to and from worship services in her church.

Mrs. FISHER outlived most of the members of her family. Surviving are nieces, nephews, cousings, and a brother-in-law, William Ottis JONES. Most of Mrs. FISHER's life was spent in Lincoln County and during her lifetime, she made innumerable friends, several of whom also survive.

Mrs. FISHER was a proud lady, full of wit and humor, yet quiet in manner. Her relatives and friends will miss this lady who has meant so much in their lives.

Her pastor, the Rev. Lester ZACHER, conducted final rites for Mrs. FISHER Sunday afternoon, April 19, 1970, at 1:30 o'clock in the Moscow Mills Methodist Church. Mrs. Amiel WEITKAMP accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Gary HILL, who sang "In the Garden". Interment was in the Anderson Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers for Mrs. FISHER were Herbert HIMMEL, Marvin HIMMEL, Woodrow HILL, Gary HILL, Edwin HIMMEL and Reed POWELSON.

Arrangements were through the Kemper Marsh Funeral Home.


Note regarding clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection":  Neva Murphy Hubbard (1886-1971) lived all of her life in Lincoln County, MO.  She collected a large file of clippings of Lincoln County residents. The majority of the clippings were without citation. Beth Rengers Talken, beneficiary of the collection, has transcribed them for inclusion in our Lincoln County Heritage Records.
