Obituary for Mrs. Wm. Colbert (1845-1906)
No. 028 - Uncited clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection" of Beth Rengers Talken, 1998.

Mrs. Wm. COLBERT was born January 3, 1845, and died at her home in Troy, Mo., Jan. 30, 1906 after an illness of several weeks.

Mrs. COLBERT was married to Wm. COLBERT in 1867, in Lincoln county.

She was a member of the Christian church at Hawk Point, Mo., and was baptized by Bro. FORD.

She leaves to mourn her death an aged mother and three children, James, of Alton Ill, Mrs. C.W. BRANDES, of Troy, and Mrs. H.E. WRIGHT, of Troy, four grand children, two sisters and two brothers.

Mrs. COLBERT was engaged in the hotel business about twenty years. She was always kind, and gave a helping hand to all with whom she came in contact. She was meek and gentle in her manner, and to know her was to love her.

She bore her sickness with all the patience of a true Christian woman. During her last sickness she expressed herself as being ready and willing to go.

After a very impressive service conducted by Bro. MERRILL at her home, she was laid to rest in the city cemetery at Troy. To the dear children I would say: Lean on the strong arm of Jesus. And to the dear children: pluck a rose from the boquet of mother's life and weave it as a garland into yours. --D.M.E.

Note regarding clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection":  Neva Murphy Hubbard (1886-1971) lived all of her life in Lincoln County, MO.  She collected a large file of clippings of Lincoln County residents. The majority of the clippings were without citation. Beth Rengers Talken, beneficiary of the collection, has transcribed them for inclusion in our Lincoln County Heritage Records.
